Forgetful Lately? Five Fixable Causes to Rule Out Before Any Supplement
Several common causes of memory trouble have specific, effective treatments. Check these first; a capsule can wait.
Start with the fixable
When memory slips, it is natural to fear the worst and reach for a supplement. A better first move is to rule out the common causes that have specific treatments. The National Institute on Aging and MedlinePlus both list several[1][2]. Here are five worth checking before buying anything.
1. Low vitamin B12
B12 deficiency can cause memory problems, fatigue, numbness and low mood. It is more common with age, because stomach acid and absorption fall, and with long-term metformin or acid-reducing medicines. A blood test diagnoses it, and treatment is cheap[3].
2. Thyroid problems
An underactive thyroid slows thinking and memory along with metabolism. A simple TSH blood test screens for it, and treatment is effective.
3. Poor sleep or sleep apnea
Memories are consolidated during sleep[6]. Chronic short sleep, insomnia or untreated sleep apnea (loud snoring, gasping, daytime sleepiness) can feel like failing memory. Treating apnea often helps.
4. Hearing loss
Straining to hear uses mental effort that would otherwise go to remembering. In the ACHIEVE trial, hearing intervention slowed cognitive decline in the subgroup of older adults at higher risk[5]. A hearing test is quick and often free.
5. Medicines and mood
Many medicines dull memory, especially sleep aids, older antihistamines, bladder medicines and some antidepressants with anticholinergic effects; long-term use of strong anticholinergics was linked to higher dementia risk[4]. Depression and anxiety also impair concentration and recall. A medicine review with a pharmacist and an honest conversation about mood are both worthwhile.
Then decide about supplements
If these are checked and your forgetfulness is judged ordinary for your age, a supplement is a reasonable personal experiment, provided you check interactions and keep a log. If any of them turns up a cause, treating it will do more than any capsule.
Quick answers
Can low B12 cause memory loss?
Yes. Vitamin B12 deficiency can cause memory problems and is diagnosed with a blood test and treated easily.
Can medicines cause forgetfulness?
Yes. Sleep aids, older antihistamines, bladder medicines and some antidepressants are common culprits; ask a pharmacist to review your list.

Run a fair 180-day test of Mindoxa
ClickBank takes the payment. Log your everyday lapses before the first capsule, keep sleep, walking and hearing in the plan, file the receipt email, and if the log looks the same around week 20, post the bottles back while there is still time for them to reach Colorado.
